Multimillion pound deal for Thai Leisure Group

Thai Leisure Group, the company which operates the Chaophraya and Thaikun restaurants, has secured a £10m investment from Santander as it opens two new restaurants in Oxford and Cambridge. Thai Leisure Group was advised by Steven Millward and Caroline Thompson-Hayes of Schofield Sweeney.  

The growing Thai restaurant group has outlets across Yorkshire, the North West, Midlands and Scotland.

The first Chaophraya restaurant was opened in Leeds in 2004, the Leisure Group currently operates 11 restaurants and four cocktail bars. The Group’s other brands include ChaoBaby, Palm Sugar and Yee Rah.

Thai Leisure Group reported like for like sales growth of 9% over the last year, they are one of the fastest growing in the hospitality sector. With current turnover, annualised on existing sites of £27m and serving around 26,000 customers per week, Thai Leisure Group is already the leading Thai restaurant group outside London.

Other locations targetted to expand the Thaikhun brand will include Guilford and Nottingham, in an effort to cover the east and west while moving southwards.
