International metal distributor buys Rotherham wire manufacturer

Hempel Wire Limited was advised by a team from Schofield Sweeney on its acquisition by Central Wire Industries.

The Rotherham based manufacturer and distributor of stainless and nickel alloy wire was purchased by the Germany headquartered international distributer of specialty metals.

Hempel Wire manufactures and distributes both round and profile wire in a wide variety of alloys including virtually all stainless steels and nickel alloys.  Founded in Rotherham in 1983, Hempel Wire reported sales of c£9 million last year and has approximately 45 employees.

The acquisition comes just two weeks after Hempel Wire acquired the trade and assets of Fox Wire in neighboring Sheffield, creating the leading supplier of round and shaped wire in the United Kingdom.

The international deal was led by David Strachan with assistance from Karen Crutchley, Lucy Holroyd, John Feaster and Gill Farry.
