World of Work Volunteering Programme

David Cowgill, one of our Commercial Property Associates, participated in the “World of Work” days in local primary schools across Leeds. This was as part of Leeds Law Society’s Education Fortnight, between 6 and 17 November.

Schofield Sweeney plays an active role in encouraging all staff to take the time out of their busy schedules to undertake pro bono work. This not only assists the parties they are working with, but also enhances the experience and fulfilment of our employees.

The initiative, now in its 11th year, aims to broaden the children’s horizons about the choices and opportunities open to them in the legal sector, through a series of focussed workshops. David Cowgill, deputy president of the Leeds Law Society said that he was really pleased that the Society continues to work with Ahead Partnership to put the event together.

“The students were really engaged and genuinely interested, asking lots of questions throughout the day,” he said. “The day was very rewarding and it was great to meet so many children that were eager to learn and had some very clear ideas for what they wanted to do in the future. They all got involved and were very inquisitive, and the teachers and staff managed the day really well.”

“I found it to be a very worthwhile experience and all the children seemed to benefit from the day.”
