At our next Education Forum for schools and multi academy trusts (MATs) on 15 March 2018, our specialist team will look at some of the most important data protection issues affecting schools, including the latest guidance of what the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) means for the education sector.
This session will cover the following topics:
An Overview of Data Protection and GDPR Explore what data protection obligations and responsibilities you will have as a school or MAT following the implementation of the GDPR, which will become law in May 2018. We will guide you through what steps we consider you should take ahead of the implementation date.
Interactive session Our forum will include delegate participation to explore which grounds to choose for processing data and a case study on data breaches.
Share best practice Discuss and share your plans to be GDPR compliant with other schools and MATs in a safe environment.
This is your opportunity to connect and build networks with other schools, MATs and academies, share best practice, and discuss any concerns you have. Our specialist Education Team will also be available to advise on the relevant law and explore a range of issues. If there are any particular topics you would like to hear about then please do let us know.
The Education Forum is primarily aimed at members of the senior leadership team and business managers. There will be a variety of topics covered so it may also be appropriate for HR managers or other colleagues to attend. If governors are able to attend they would also be very welcome.
A light breakfast will be provided. We will also spend some time networking informally and give you the opportunity to input into the format of future events.
Please note that places are limited to a maximum of two per school or MAT.
