CANCELLED -Sickness Absence & Coronavirus

17th March 2020

Leeds

Unfortunately, given the escalation over the weekend, the Firm has decided to cancel these seminars and other events for the foreseeable future.

This has not been an easy decision to make but the wellbeing of our staff and our duty of care to our clients is naturally of utmost importance to Schofield Sweeney.

Those who have paid will be reimbursed. We will though hopefully hold these seminars in the future.

If you would like a copy of the slides that we have prepared, please let us know and we will arrange for these to be sent by a member of the Employment Team. If you do have any specific concerns about sickness absence, or the impact of coronavirus on your staff, please contact a member of the Employment Team or call 0113 849 4000.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

High levels of sickness absence often cause employers significant problems. It is imperative that employers know how to properly deal with absence issues, carefully managing the employee’s welfare with the detrimental impact the absences have on employers and colleagues. The cost of getting it wrong, especially with disabled employees, can be very high.

In light of recent events, we will also now be covering the implications of sickness absence due to Coronavirus.

Our workshop will consider how best to manage both long-term and intermittent sickness absence, both from a supportive approach to formal action, including dismissal, if necessary. In particular, we will cover:

  • The sickness absences procedures that need to be followed
  • Managing both long-term and intermittent absences
  • When medical evidence should be obtained and by whom
  • The effect of an employee being a disabled person
  • The duty to make reasonable adjustments
  • When sickness absence is as a result of capability or misconduct procedures
  • When it is fair to dismiss employees and the process to follow
  • Coronavirus

This workshop is designed for business owners, HR managers and senior managers with line management responsibilities. It will be an interactive session with practical examples and allow you the opportunity to have your questions answered by our expert employment law team.

Cost is £25pp + VAT and includes breakfast.

We are also delighted to able to offer a limited-time discount to those booking on all four seminar topics. You will need to apply the code on each of the four seminars. Please kindly note if you apply the code to just one seminar without completing a booking for the other three we will not be able to hold your place at the discounted rate.
