“I love to sew and saw this as something I could do to hopefully make a small difference!”
One of our secretaries, Becky, along with her family, were only too happy to help Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust when she heard they were in need!
After noticing a plea for comfort headbands for staff who were struggling with painful ears wearing the PPE masks, the family got to work making 40 comfortable headbands
The idea behind the headbands is that two buttons are sewn behind the ears so that the mask loops can be looked around the button rather than their ears.
Becky explains: “Luckily I have lots of stretchy material having made numerous dance consumes for Mia so I set to work with and whipped up the headbands. Mia and Owen then set to work matching up pairs of buttons and we had a team effort sewing the 80 buttons on! They then decorated a paper bag and we arranged for the nurse to collect them (contactless, of course!). We saw a post thanking the nurse for delivering them, so we know they got there and were gratefully received!
Thank you to all NHS staff for looking after us and keeping us safe!
