Increases to National Minimum Wage from April 2025

5th November 2024

As part of its pledge to reform worker’s rights, the government asked the Low Pay Commission (LPC), who are an independent body, to consider inflation trends and the cost of living for the first time when making its recommendations.

Having accepted the recommendations of the LPC in full, the Government has confirmed increases to the National Minimum Wage as follows from 1 April 2025:

The increase to the 18-20 year old rate, which is the largest increase on record, aims to align with the government’s plans to eventually have a single adult rate.

Employers must ensure compliance with the updated rates, as failure to comply can lead to statutory fines and backdated claims for unlawful deduction from wages.
