£7m funding secured for growing property business Fenwood Estates

14th February 2022

Fenwood Estates has secured significant funding to expand and develop new sites across South Yorkshire.

The £7m funding, from the St Bride’s White Rose Residential Partnership, will support both the ongoing growth of the family-owned business and the Partnership’s desire to invest in residential schemes with a social and economic impact.

“Schofield Sweeney worked around the clock to get this deal over the line for us. A great team effort between the various departments from Amraj, Jess, Andrew and Craig – thank you all for your hard work from instruction to completion!” Melissa Kroger, Managing Director of Fenwood Estates.

Fenwood will use this resource for the company’s existing development land pipeline and to invest in 1 to 5 acre brownfield and greenfield sites, either with or without planning consent, across Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley.

Fenwood also has a reserved matters planning application submitted for a mix of 28 – 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes close to Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Site preparation works are scheduled to begin in this spring subject to planning approval.

Amraj Boparai, commercial property partner led on the deal “We were really pleased to be able to assist Melissa in securing this finance, especially as we dealt with the acquisition of the Knights Gate site in Sutton. This was a transaction with a very strict timescale, and I am pleased that our team was able to complete the matter on time and within the agreed budget. Essentially a transaction which in the normal course of events would have taken months, was completed within a few weeks of instruction. By taking a proactive approach, we were able to ensure that our client has secured the ability to continue to develop and we are looking forward to being involved with the further investments to be made by our client.”

Fenwood Estates were advised by our corporate (Jessica Fielden), planning and environmental (Craig Burman), commercial property (Amraj Bopari) and construction (Andrew Hurst) teams.
